Mrs. Crystal Swindell

Early College High School (ECHS) is a truly special place, and I am deeply honored to serve as principal alongside our exceptional team of educators, students, and families. Education remains my lifelong passion because it serves as a key to unlocking future opportunities. 

Originally from Scranton, Pennsylvania, I relocated to North Carolina in 2001 to launch my career in education. Over the course of 22 years in the classroom, I had the privilege of teaching students from fourth through twelfth grades. My journey at ECHS began during the 2021–2022 school year as a graduation coach. I later returned to the classroom from 2022 to 2024 to teach science and study skills while participating in the North Carolina Principal Fellows Program. After earning my Master of School Administration from East Carolina University, I continued my leadership at ECHS as assistant principal and data manager. 

As a passionate educational advocate and lifelong learner, I believe that building strong, authentic connections with staff, students, and families is the foundation for maximizing educational success.
