Ms. Katherine Alligood

I grew up in Washington, NC, and attended East Carolina University. Before becoming a teacher, I worked as a certified Medical Technologist in the Transplant Laboratory at Duke University Hospital and at Cancer Centers of Carolina. 

I have been teaching at Beaufort County Early College High School since 2011, where I teach Biology and Honors Chemistry. I also serve as the Science Department Chair and as the faculty advisor for our Envirothon Team and Greenhouse Club. I especially enjoy helping students connect what they learn in the classroom to the world around them and encouraging them to explore their interests in science.

Outside of school, I live in Washington with my husband and our three sons. I enjoy reading, hiking, and cooking, and spending time outdoors. As a family, we have made it our goal to explore all of the North Carolina State Parks, and we have hiked in all but eight of them! We look forward to continuing our adventures and checking those remaining parks off our list.
